Reading Stats 2020: So What Did I Read?

the storygraph | goodreads

Hello again, it's me many minutes later (I don't actually know if it is ten minutes or three hundred).

I have added links to my The StoryGraph and Goodreads for those interested on the top!

Since I wrote about my little spreadsheets in the last post, I figured I might as well use the opportunity to give you a list of all the books I managed to read this past year, accompanying my small reviews on The StoryGraph for what I actually have reviewed. Oh! Talking about StoryGraph - this is also another great source for tracking your reading multiple ways, as well as the good old Goodreads

Honestly, if you want more eloquent ideas and opinions on any of these books... my reviews are not the best idea... I am most often just expressing feelings without thinking anything through with most of these books (unless they were read for university). Most of these are just a sentence long (or even half...or just a word) since I am simply too lazy to write. Maybe using this blog will help with that... it did with my previous one...

If any of these links are incorrect, I apologize and will try to fix them at a later date! This post is a work in progress probably until I get more time to work on it.

To conclude... this was a year of fantasy, contemporary, reading series and books I have owned for what feels like an eternity. The total of books I read in 2020 is close to 130, which I am extremely pleased about - I guess staying at home really helped with reading for me. Another thing that probably was of help was that I challenged myself to read at least a chapter of a book every single day, which I accomplished in 2020.

Now let's put some numbers to all this reading!

I read over 49 800 pages within 127 books (give or take). Of all the statistics, I have read no books that I did not give a star-rating, 9 2-star books, 33 3-star books, 45 4-star books and 14 5-star books (on a 5-star scale), again, which I am pleased with! Of all my owned 214 books unread, sitting and collecting dust on my shelves, I read 65 of, 53 e-books, 72 physical books overall and 9 library books. I also (accidentally?) bought or was gifted 40 books which is not a lot in my perspective, but.... some months were worse than others. What can I say?

The average length of a book I read in 2020 was just short of 400 pages and I read many fast-paced books.

My favourites of the year are Kim Jiyoung, Born 1982, The Poppy War, Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 22-27, Down Among the Sticks and Bones and one of my only re-reads - The Great Gatsby

The least favourite title sadly goes to Generation Dead... not many redeeming qualities to that one.

Excited to see what the current reading year brings! I have not put high pressure on myself as I do have a degree to complete, but whatever happens, happens.

Until next time,
Eke
